Rene’a O'Connell 56, of Woonsocket, passed away peacefully after a long illness, surrounded by her family at the Woonsocket Health Center on December 31th, 2017. She was the Domestic partner of Chancy C. Palmer, the daughter of the late Samuel Edmondson and Alice (Wilson) Gilliard. Rene’a is survived by her two children, Shavonte O’Connell of Woonsocket and her Son Derek Rezendes of Atlanta Georgia. She is survived also by her brothers, Ronnie, Mike and Dana Gilliard, Jimmy and Clarence Ives, her sisters, Jean Edmondson, Donna and Lisa Gilliard and Rochelle Ives. She is survived also by her granddaughters Siawanda Rezendez and Niyah Smith along many aunts, uncles, cousins and nieces and nephews.

Rene’a had a heart as big as gold and a smile to match. She loved her family and friends, she always loved to eat, cook and feed everyone that came to her house. In her quiet time, she loved her crime shows especially CSI and Criminal Minds, taking care of kids and just being with her family. She had a feisty personality, but it is her “Heart of Gold” for which she will always be remembered and sorely missed
